Steve Olson’s art challenges our acquiescence to authority and conventional thought. Bold imagery, layered texture, deconstructed material and a playful relationship between art, language and meaning infuses his thoughtful assembles, paintings and sculptures with a dimension beyond their visual impact. Olson’s aesthetic gives contemporary art a juvenile delinquent phase. Its self-made style icons gleefully trash conventions of beauty and society while pick-pocketing from the coolest underground styles and beliefs.
Olson is credited with introducing skateboarding to punk rock in the late 70’s, along with being an original contributor to the Independent Truck Company. His iconic Santa Cruz checkerboard model became the first use of full-board graphics on seven-ply laminated maple.  Olson became a World Champion slalom skater in 2000 and was inducted to the Skateboarding Hall of Fame in 2014.

Collected by individuals, corporations and museums nationally and internationally, Olson’s work has been exhibited in the United States, Prague, Germany, France, and the Venice Biennale in Italy.
